Career planning is a four step process; the first step you will need to take is to compose a list about yourself. Making a list about yourself should include, your interests, values, roles, skills and your preferred environments, basically this is called a self assessment. This is a good way to learn things about yourself that you may have not known before. Then next step would be what your options are? What occupation interests you? You could also do research on industries in which you would like to work, once you find one that you might be interested in maybe you could job shadow a person that would in that field to see if it’s what you really want, you could even volunteer or get part time work in the field of your interest. Next you need to identify possible matches, make a list if needed, that way you can evaluate them and maybe put them in order to which they interest you, then explore the options that you have listed to get more information and maybe possibly find and alternative to that occupation that interests you more. Once your career choice has been made, you will need to get the education that is required for the job. Once the education has been achieved you should start to develop a job search strategy, which is looking for the job and applying. You may want to gather each company’s information; you might also need a resume and cover letter to apply to these jobs, once these steps have been taken you will then start the process of preparing for your interviews, which would be your resume and cover letter and the way you dress.
