The Challenge for "Leaning Tower of Pasta"
With the spirit of courage, valor, and determination at your side, Silver Eagles of America challenges the SEA Team member (individual) to design, build, and demonstrate a leaning tower project (made from the approved items listed below). The total cost of all product materials can not exceed $25.00 U.S.
Approved items shall be: pasta (any kind) and fast-setting or hot glue. No pre-assembled, purchased, non-pasta items are allowed.
You are challenged to:
1) Design and build a leaning tower structure, made only from pasta and glue, which reaches a measured height from its base to its top.
2) Submit a video documentary which includes
the design and planning stages, complete with sketches, ideas, etc.,
tower construction at four different stages during the building phase

video elevations of the tower from the front and all side angles complete with scale i.e., height, width of base in inches, and degrees of list or lean.
All planning, design and constructions stages must be completed in advance. You must be creative in all stages of the process in order to solve problems and achieve a winning entry. Scoring will be based upon the tower's design, size, complexity, creativity, and degree of lean from 90 degrees.
You must:
- Document, on standard videocassette, all the required stages of the challenge and the SEA Team member's involvement in these stages Send the video to Silver Eagles of America by the closing date of Dec. 7, 2001. Entries postmarked after May 10 will be disqualified from competition and returned to your school.
- Document all expenses. Donated materials must be valued at the fair market price. The total cost for all materials must be $25.00 or less.
